San Diego has such a strong craft beer culture it’s almost sacrilegious to not have a local choice on hand for get togethers. I tend to like smooth brews and Cali Creamin’ is the one I always recommend to friends who want something more than a simple lager and less than a punch-you-in-the-mouth IPA. Not too overpowering or overly sweet. It’s a vanilla cream ale…so basically the beer version of a cream soda.

Why I Love This
- Unique from the usual beer selection.
- Perfect nostalgia for summertime parties.
- The can artwork is beachy and cute (clearly I am also a sucker for aesthetically pleasing wine bottle labels.)
- A good excuse to visit Mother Earth Brew Co, but also sold at BevMo and most major grocery chains.
A Helpful Review, from Beer Advocate reviewer:
Cali Creamin' has a sweet, aromatic smell devoid of bitterness. Vanilla gets a bad rap for being a "basic" and "common" flavor in most realms; however, the flavor is unique in the bitter filled world of beer. Cali Creamin' in as laid back as it's surf city inspired bottle and can designs that evoke a 1960s beach boy vibe. You're meant to drink this beer with friends and have a good time with their company than reviewing the beer ad nauseam. So what are you waiting for, give this beer a try..More info: Our flagship offering is golden to pale in color, with low bitterness, medium body, and a white head. Our Cream Ale has redefined the category and made a classic style cool again. We use a bit of Madagascar Vanilla Bean to give it that “Cream Soda” kick. This beer finishes dry despite a subtle perceived sweetness from the Vanilla. Great any time of year.
