My husband and I used to go on hikes when we were first dating and have continued exploring the past 8 years. Meaning, we have covered lot of San Diego spots! Annie’s Canyon was formerly known as the Mushroom Caves that were not accessible to the public, and with the trail recently restored and reopened it is a must-do for any San Diego local or visitor. It’s a short enough distance for kids’ stamina (less than 2 miles) and the sandstone walls are so narrow it’s only single file- which makes for a uniquely fun squeezy experience. Best part is the panoramic ocean view as your reward at the top!
