From ages 1-4 years old my son always had a pair of Natives in his shoe rotation. They are easy for toddlers to put on themselves, waterproof and closed-toe aka preschool playground approved. There’s a good variety of colors and styles (he wore the Jefferson style in jiffy black and pigeon grey and they went with everything!) and IMO worth every penny since they are virtually indestructable: each pair lasted until he grew into the next size.

A Helpful Review, from Zappos reviewer:
My son has wide feet and he doesn't complain when we put these on. They do run big so I would suggest sizing down if you are on the cusp of a 1/2 size. I've purchased two pairs of natives in the same style for my older child and they are a great shoe. Do not leave them in the sun because they do have the potential to shrink. Overall easy to care for, great for water play, sand or just for everyday. I will definitely be purchasing these again.More info: Native was founded in Vancouver, BC in 2009 to design and produce lightweight, injection-molded EVA shoes.
